Getting Rid Of My Dads Junk Car

One of the things that has come up is getting rid of my old Nissan. I have had the same car since I started driving. That’s right folks- this LA girl has been driving the most wonderful and reliable dinged up car for over a decade. This lovely piece of 2001 machinery (I bought it used) has been to Colorado when I ran a campaign office for my gap year, multiple trips to Vegas during college, and Vancouver for my first major film job after graduation. This car has dents and scratches all connected to memories. But I’m carrying precious cargo and with just under 200,000 miles on this baby this thing is not safe anymore. The repairs cost more than the car is worth.

This is a picture of me and my sorority sisters back in college after the car got a flat tire on the way to a camping trip.

Now I’m dealing with the DMV process of moving the Nissan into my name so I can sell the car for parts. It’s actually worth more in parts than it is in one piece. Interesting, I’m learning so much about everything. I’ll let you guys know the step by step of how to change the name on the title and dispose of a junk car left by a diseased relative once I’ve figured it out. Right now it’s frustrating but I’m going to feel so accomplished once this is done. 🙂
